David Gilmour es un influyente músico británico conocido por ser el vocalista, guitarrista, multi-instrumentalista y compositor principal junto a Roger Waters de la banda británica de rock progresivo Pink Floyd tras el abandono de Syd Barrett. Junto con su trabajo en esta banda, Gilmour ha colaborado en otras publicaciones como productor y ha estado envuelto activamente en ONGs a lo largo de su carrera. En el año 2003 fue condecorado con la Orden del Imperio Británico. En el último listado de los 100 mejores guitarristas, por la revista Rolling Stone, está posicionado en el decimocuarto lugar (entre Albert King y Freddy King).
